Hitch, Carbonneau ruled out by Stars

Ken Hitchcock and Guy Carbonneau have been eliminated from the coaching search for the Stars, moving Los Angeles Kings assistant coach Dave Tippett into the front-runner spot.

Team sources said Monday that Carbonneau will not be interviewed.

Carbonneau, the former Stars center and fan favorite, is an assistant coach with the Montreal Canadiens, who were eliminated from the playoffs Monday, and would have been available soon to interview for the job. However, the source said bringing in a coach who was teammates with many players just two seasons ago probably wouldn't work.
